At all times, there were multiple challenges to face and it was always necessary to temper the spirit so as not to lower the determination to correct mistreatment, abuse, harsh submission. Today, we face enormous challenges related to environmental deterioration and the unbridled concentration of wealth and decision-making power. This is verified at the geopolitical level with tremendous confrontations of uncertain outcomes, and within countries with large corporations associated with a minority of compatriots who abuse the entire society. To break resistances, dominators deceive and cover up their indefensible interests, dumb down the will, insidiously promote greater social fragmentation to keep the different middle and popular sectors disunited. If necessary, they use repression, either with brute force or by co-opting strategic nodes of politics, the judiciary, and the media. In this oppressive context, the risk of falling into discouragement, lowering one’s arms, taking refuge in alienation, condemning oneself for inactivity grows exponentially.
It is essential to overcome the discouragement that neutralizes, advancing in the understanding of what really happens (clarification) and in joining forces effectively (organization). Listening to others, without embracing our own ideas and solutions as fundamentalists. Because diversity enriches and strengthens us as long as we know how to amalgamate diverse wills, align with intelligence and creativity the interests, needs, and desires of the various groups that make up our people. It is an effort, a permanent work.
It is up to political and social leaders to guide the determination to act and, with each one of us, to blow away the nebula of discouragement. That’s where we’re at.
