In the face of emergency and pain, we can only but unite and lend a hand. There is a steady outpour of affection from a fraternity we recognize today more than ever. We join in the efforts to mitigate the impact of such devastating natural disasters in Initiatives Worth Knowing, list ways in which emergency aid can be channeled, and will do everything within our power to accompany the reconstruction, which most probably will focus on those who are most vulnerable and marginalized. Haiti and Chile are two very different realities that mobilize our solidarity and affection.
The articles published in this issue of Opinión Sur analyze the roots of the global unbridled excess; how those who, through financial speculation, triggered the crisis and profited twice as much from it, and what might be the range of options for a new international economic order.
We announce the publication of the first book in English in the Opinion Sur Collection, Adjusting the Course: getting out of the crisis towards sustainable development. You may inquire about its contents, as well as purchase it, at [ADJUSTING THE COURSE->https://www.createspace.com/3431134]. We wish to express our deepest gratitude for the financial support from readers and friends; although we have not yet covered all our financial needs for 2010, we very much appreciate the contributions and comments received.
