Getting Out of Concentrating Alienation

Humanity compromised, the planet attacked, furies and frustrations swirling with uncertain outcomes. Guided by lightweight leaders armed with deadly weapons. It is untenable for minorities to accumulate mercilessly while entire societies are cornered in misery and alienation. We will have to get out of this madness.

The process of concentrating wealth and decisions prevails almost everywhere in the world. This is the case in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Oceania, with their own peculiarities in each region. Few people accumulate enormous wealth and influence while billions of human beings are unable to meet their basic needs. Added to this is the aggression suffered by the planet with devastating consequences on the environment.

The punishments inflicted on entire societies and nature are tremendous. We know how we got to this situation; a cascade of appropriations has been established that favors a ruthless minority that ignores all the rest. It is a concentrating dynamic that does not stop, it happens and grows without pause or retreat.

There will be limits DUE to the reactions of those who suffer the consequences of so much iniquity that someday, somehow, may emerge violently. At the same time, the planet reacts harshly to climate-altering aggressions, generating very serious consequences. The world is going through an alarming systemic instability that is expressed in the social, environmental, and economic spheres, the outcomes of which are uncertain and highly risky.

Democracies have been systematically captured, minds colonized, free will dumbed down. The representatives represent little and badly, they take care of their bench because of the perks they obtain. There are, of course, the exceptions of the brave who honor the mandate received.

The social organizer is to profit by any means and at any cost.

No options?

There are several and diverse. One, full of complexities, is to form social coalitions that can democratically manage the control of states. That is, with the ability to establish justice, equity, care for all and the environment, with new rules of the game and other ways of allocating the immense resources available.

It will be necessary to deconcentrate the wealth and decisions held by those who dominate and, of critical importance, to allocate the resources freed up for the good of humanity and the planet. A challenge that opens new directions and ways of functioning according to the cultural and political singularities of each society.  It will be enriching to preserve that diversity as it is not a question of replacing contemporary oppression with another antagonistic imposition.

Throughout its history, humanity has gone through phases of profound systemic change. We are on the threshold of an essential transformation capable of clearing away the dangers that are accumulating threateningly.

We know how to change; we know strategies to move forward on better paths. There are thousands and even more transformative contributions. Each liberated society will evaluate options and choose those that it accepts as a guide to the change of course.

How will those who misappropriate and accumulate unbridled react?

A good part of those who profit without limits will resist changes that affect their privileges. Few will agree to give up their privileges. They have managed to gain access to enormous opulence at the expense of billions of sufferers, without any mercy or qualms for the impact of their actions. They profit by using deceptive reasons to justify their privileges.  It is hard to believe they do not understand the humanitarian disaster and environmental upheaval they helped create. A few billionaires have differentiated themselves by promoting changes to circumvent a march that leads to ruthless lock-ins.

The descendants of those who accumulated wealth in each society, whether they are rentiers of those inherited patrimony or managers of productive activities, may be able to understand more than their elders that their luxurious life is achieved at the expense of humanity and the planet. The situation is so serious that they cannot remain entrenched in their spheres of enormous privileges. The phases of exploitation, direct or indirect, of the vast majorities are narrowed. Hopefully the world can react peacefully and not continue to slide towards a terrible fate where victims and victimizers, all mixed, will suffer the consequences.
