Europe undermines its democracies; emerging economies explore new paths

While in Europe interests behind economic concentration prevail and the recent elections for the European Parliament evidence the significant political cost of the social turmoil they caused, in emerging economies the search for other more promising paths redoubles. Peoples of the old Europe endure the severe setback that undermines their democracies, reinstating hate and frustrations that were thought to have disappeared from the continent; people in Africa, Latin America and Asia, although packed with contradictions and tensions, try to keep moving forward despite the conflictive global context and the huge number of restrictions we have to overcome. These are turbulent times in which it would be good to exchange perspectives regarding the processes that explain what it was, what it is, what it could be. It is in that direction that we aim.

In this June issue we analyze the one step forward and two steps backward of the beaten Europe, how to take advantage of good decisions in our emerging economies without falling into unwanted consequences, and we keep exploring new categories and perspectives that will allow us to understand facts and situations from reality that conventional economic theory is not capable of unraveling. We trust this material will be of your interest.

Cordial greeting.
