Electoral machinations and geopolitical impacts

Since immemorial time minorities that flaunt privileges deceive and submit large majorities into preserving their interests. At the cultural level they impose certain values, beliefs, traditions, institutions that justify and establish the imposed order. They elaborate deceiving ideologies that sustain the “right” to dispose of their privileges. If the imposed institutional framework is not enough, they control the repressive force to dissuade or restrain transforming attempts.

As democratic systems are established and majorities gain political rights that they did not have before, privilege adjusts itself to new circumstances and aims at capturing democracies by manipulating public opinion. They use for that purpose their economic power, the media, social networks and certain kindred judicial trenches. Everywhere in the planet this is very serious but even much more if the captured democracy is the one that has the largest economic and military power of the world; the geopolitical implications are huge.

In this issue of Opinion Sur we address these matters.
