This is a message for whoever values what we are doing and is in a position to help us cope with a difficult financial situation.
Although editors and contributing authors receive no compensation, Opinión Sur requires funding to cover its overhead, including communication expenses, office rental, and salaries for our reduced and dedicated staff (coordinators, assistant, translators, and accountant). Our current supporters are medium-sized donors who are facing their own difficulties as a result of the crisis. This confronts us with a new challenge that needs to be addressed. It is time to diversify funding sources and call on those that know us. We intend to create a community of small sponsors made up of readers who value our work and are in a position to make small contributions or refer us to those who can do it. If we succeed, we will attain the stability we need to keep generating ideas and strategic suggestions in relation to the crisis and the development of our countries.
We are excited about the possibility of getting the support of a compact group of students, workers, researchers, retired citizens, government and civil society organization’s officers. No one should feel his or her small contribution is not important. To the contrary, on the face of the withdrawal of large and medium-sized donors the challenge consists in supplementing their funding with contributions ranging from 10 to 240 units of your local currency, be it dollars, pesos, euros, or any other currency. [(How to support)->http://www.opinionsur.org.ar/Community-of-Opinion-Sur-sponsors?var_mode=calcul] Every small contribution counts.
We express our thanks to those that can support Opinión Sur. That funding will help us strengthen our commitment.
We hope you find this month’s articles interesting.
Cordial greetings,
The Editors
