Why should we be surprised that many peoples choose grotesques to be led by. These characters arise for very different circumstances but always with the financial support of some segment of economic power.
One would ask why they support them and the main reason is that, in principle, they are manageable by economic power to continue accumulating wealth and privileges. With an addition, economic power jealously guards those who, eventually, dreamed of actually exercising on their own the leadership to which they acceded. The reassurance that economic power keeps is that the grotesques they chose as the new leadership lack the conditions to forge a rebellion against their constituents and, therefore, are discarded when they consider it necessary.
The dramatic thing that the caliber of those who dominate demonstrates is that to ensure their privileges they are willing to destroy societies. We see how they sow discord, enmities, and hatred, how they disunite communities, how they inject distrust and resentment to block the unity of those who are victimized. If anything goes outside the course chosen by the economic power, they resort to repression, to corner dissident voices.
Given this, it is necessary to unmask the operation of inventing new fictitious leaderships, identifying the interests they wish to preserve and their divisive maneuvers. That is, to expand the clarification about what is happening and to work firmly in the organization of democratic coalitions capable of confronting concentrated power. Orient ourselves as a society to open paths of equity and social peace, to take care of the wellbeing of all and the planet that shelters us.
