Today is the Future

Storm clouds keep coming from central countries. The crisis spreads and it is necessary to react fast and, most importantly, with efficacy. It is no longer enough to put forth isolated efforts; what is needed is to generate synergies among public, private and civil society players. It is no good either adopting measures that procrastinate problems without solving them; we will have to identify the futility of some measures and focus on those that may really contribute to changing the conditions that led to the crisis. Multiple work fronts need to be addressed to overcome the crisis, and they are not restricted to the economic world but also include institutional governance and social behaviour.

This historic moment may become a major turning point in global development: it urges us to overcome the past and forge the future by transforming the present. In fact, the future is today. For that purpose, contributions in terms of reflection, strategic thinking and transforming action are critically important. Opinion Sur has concentrated its greatest efforts in this direction.
