It is not by chance rather by cause that, when the tremendous social and environmental impacts produced by the unbridled concentration of wealth became unveiled, a neoliberal reflux has appeared almost everywhere in the world. That is because the inequality and suffering by entire peoples are becoming ever more evident, something very dangerous as it mobilizes the will of those the concentrated power needs to contain.
They have shifted the agenda: they managed to divert our energy from promoting transformations and creativity that can make way for the new, to complaining for the lost rights and trying to withstand as we can. Instead of sustainability, social justice and environmental care, endless greed, selfishness and impiety towards others prevail. The purpose of being is now based on businesses and enrichment; less on clarification and more on alienation and dullness of freewill.
It is a challenge that is testing us; that teaches once more that advances are not linear; that is imperative to disentangle the circumstances that harass us, to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of privilege, to work on our own abilities and determination, to review made mistakes. It also alerts us on the need to strengthen ourselves with understanding, organization, and mobilization; to separate the wheat from the chaff, to focus and prioritize, to unite ourselves in the diversity. These are not easy times; however, what is encouraging is that it is summoning us for a new construction.
