Renewal of challenges and actions

A new year has arrived, just a milestone in the continuity of time. Even when the most prominent objectives remain, circumstances, far from being static, inexorably keep changing. Thus the beginning of 2016 is a good opportunity to renew challenges and actions adjusting them to the new contexts. If not, we would lose effectiveness in applying our energies or, while facing difficulties that we have to live with we might even confuse where we are heading.

The articles in this issue cover the following subjects: (i) the international agreement regarding weather signed by 195 nations in Paris as a first step in preventing and mitigating the disastrous effects on the environment of the economic and population growth, (ii) corruption, manipulated in accordance with each one’s own interest, including critical categories that have been very little or not at all considered but of such magnitude that corruption has now become systemic, and (iii) the Earth no longer has the capacity to satisfy human demands, it has become dangerously unsustainable and requires serious transformations.
