The millions that are lost in tax havens

The Tax Justice Network estimates that countries fail to collect more than $472 billion a year due to international tax abuse. Of that amount, nearly $301 billion is lost because multinational corporations shift their profits to tax havens to report less profit than they actually make in the countries where they operate, and, as a result, pay less tax than they should. The remaining $171 billion is lost because wealthy individuals hide undeclared assets and income abroad, outside the scope of the law.

About an Us and Them

It doesn’t occur to me to think that there isn’t an Us and Them. There is, there always will be. But Us must be us. It must include the entire oppressed class that is made up of diverse people, from pink to black to brown, of all genders and sexual orientations, born anywhere on the planet. Any other division only serves those who have the capital, the machines, and the natural resources.
