About the Deception of Shrinking the State
The state is a central element in any modern country, anywhere in the world. It is essential for any society to function and thrive. The more powerful the country, the more sophisticated and complex its state is. If you have the misfortune that the nation state functions badly, you harm the whole society. For it to work well, it must be improved, not defunded. Incidentally, the famous “public employees” are doctors, nurses, teachers, police, military, scientists, judges, engineers, technicians, aviators, experts, etc. Who can we manage without?

About being able to live through conflicts
A psychoanalysis is not to avoid conflicts but quite the opposite: it is to be able to live them.

About Parenting Without Frustration
At some point, the mother has to start frustrating her child through her absence so that he can continue his development towards autonomy. Nowadays, one of the great expectations is that there can be parenting without frustration. But psychoanalysis teaches us that there is something irreducible about this experience. Moreover, it helps us understand that for emotional development, frustration is as fundamental as gratification. That a child is able to express his hatred by telling us “You’re bad” when we frustrate him – even if it is for his own good, at least in most of the times – is very important for his growth.
D.W.Winnicott (quoted by Tomás Grieco)
