In Guatemala a hydroelectric company placed on the Las Vacas river launched a plastic recycling project along the river reservoir because most of its bed is made up of drainages coming from the capital city, virtually transforming it into a waste bin. The firm created a plant for recycling the plastic taken from the course and transforming it into posts, thus contributing to saving energy, protecting the natural resources, reducing the need for having incinerators and sanitary fillers, and avoiding gas emissions that foster the greenhouse effect.

The Navarra Environmental Resources Center presented cleaning products that are produced through fermentation processes. The main advantage of these microorganism biotechnological products lies in that they are respectful of the environment, substituting conventional caustic and dangerous chemical products. One of the features of these cleaning products is that, when applied to a surface, they create a bio-film where microorganisms keep working by eliminating dirt in the most difficult areas.
