The Geopolitics article concludes by pointing out that the hegemonies that dominated the world seem today “two forgetful arthritic thugs of MAD (the great reciprocal fear) and that endanger the world around them, distracting everyone from what we should face together and in solidarity, namely how to repair, rejuvenate, and cultivate a stripped and rickety planet, in the future benefit of the great majorities?”
How to do it, how to move in that direction? There are many of us converging in search of answers, hence there are multiple and diverse ones. They extend from the enormous spaces of geopolitical tensions to the realms of popular economy at the very base of societies. These are long-standing processes with hopeful advances and tremendous setbacks. They demand thought, memory, compassion, fraternity among peoples and nations. It requires understanding without looking away; overcome confrontations and displace dominators; advance in clarification and organization; armed with courage and ability to raise the new. While war clashes destroy, torture, and kill openly, the opprobrious concentration of wealth and decision-making power also destroys, tortures, and kills by silencing those who resist. Although they seem distant, wars and inequalities respond to close networks of greed and interests.
It is always powerful minorities who speak, decide, and go for their own interests. They try to confuse by inducing nebulae. And yet, even in whirlwinds of impositions and manipulations, social freewill survives with a north that grows with experience: that our societies can sovereignly decide how to ensure the wellbeing of all and firmly care for Mother Earth.
