Regarding guarding our freedom
Setting aside a moment for (reflexive) silence every day is guarding our freedom in front of the corrosive banalities of consumption and the noisy confusion of publicity, in front of the abundance of empty words and the impetuous waves of rumors and complaints.
Pope Francis
Regarding what diminishes our power to act
Sadness, sad attachments are all those that diminish our power to act. And the established powers need them to turn us into their slaves. Powers have more need to anguish us than to repress us. It is not easy to be a free man: escaping the plague, organizing meetings, increasing the ability to act, being happy, and multiplying affections that express or develop a maximum of affirmation. Turning body into a force that is not limited to an organism, turning thinking into a force that is not reduced to conscience.
Gilles Deleuze.
Regarding a monochromatic world
The world can only appear monochromatic in the eyes of those who insist on interpreting what we experiment through a unique cultural paradigm, their own.
