About not envying the young

Why would someone who is growing old envy young people? Because of the possibilities they have, the future that awaits them? ‘No, thank you’, he will think. ‘Instead of possibilities I count with the realities of my past, not only the reality of the work done and the love loved, but of the sufferings bravely suffered.
