Argentina gets ready to produce a wind turbine for high speed winds

The Argentine Science and Technology Ministry and two municipalities of the south of the country –Cutral-Có and Plaza Huincul- got together to develop the Eolis-15, a wind turbine for high speed winds. Wind electricity is intermittent by nature, but as the best wind sites are located close to hydroelectric energy transmission chains, both types of energy can be combined without producing any waste: when wind energy is generated, hydroelectric lakes save water without diminishing the energy they produce.

In 2007, the world wind market closed with the onset of 20,000 megawatts generated by new windmills for which 44 million dollars were paid. Now, European producers charge 2,400 dollars per kilowatt installed and take up to 4 years to deliver the orders. ([+info->http://www.lanacion.com.ar/nota.asp?nota_id=1024482&high=Eolis15])

Madrid will have recycled 100 per cent of the out of use vehicles in 2016

According to the Regional Government Residue Strategy, the community of Madrid will manage to recycle almost 100 per cent of the materials that make up the vehicles that are out of use by 2016. Madrid will thus succeed in giving an appropriate treatment to the vehicles once they are no longer useful. Currently, the region has 40 authorized plants where dangerous residues are removed and the remaining materials are recycled.

The strategy counts on nine plans to handle the different types of residues, whose aims are to improve the training of businesses that manage residues and to design communication and awareness campaigns.
