In China, the companies Yingli Green Energy and SDIC Huajing Power have presented a joint project for building a solar energy plant that could now produce the cheapest solar energy of the world: 0,1 dollar/kwh by the year 2012. The Dunhuang Project is one of the major solar energy projects in China, and it intends to set a precedent concerning the generation of “clean” energy at better prices supported by efficient subsidies. Great success of the public bicycle system in Barcelona
Two years have gone by since the public bicycle system was first installed in Barcelona. Ever since the scenario has changed significantly and there has been more than one surprise. Back then, the most optimistic forecasts signalled that in three years’ time the service would attain 85,000 subscribers. Only two years have passed and there are more than 185,000 customers already, that is, 15 per cent of the local population -and this percentage does not include the elderly or the children.

Paraguay encourages the development of renewable energies for them to become a part of the production chain
Paraguay encourages the development of renewable energies, especially the solar and wind energy. The National Technology, Standardisation and Metrology Institute (INTN, for
its acronym in Spanish) conducts this initiative. The development of renewable energies is not geared to the production of electricity but to its use as a part of a production chain.
