Transparency in Government Actions

In August 2007, the candidates running for mayor and councilors of the city of Córdoba, Argentina, signed the document “For a Sustainable Córdoba”, where they pledged to encourage citizen participation in political affairs, environmental protection, and optimization of the city’s urban public transportation system. Two civil society organizations are responsible for the follow-up of matters relating to transparency in government action, and for keeping citizens regularly informed about the progress made as well as the authorities’ failure, if any, to comply with the commitments contained in the document. They also submit management good practices proposals in the field of transparency.
